Recent News

  • August 9, 2010 - In a second letter to Dell Inc. shareholders, the AFL-CIO and AFSCME urged shareholders to read the SEC's complaint against Michael Dell and the company, noting that Institutional Shareholder Services updated its proxy voting recommendation to its clients to vote "WITHHOLD" from Michael Dell. 

  • August 3, 2010 - In a letter to Dell Inc. shareholders, the AFL-CIO and AFSCME urged a withhold vote from Chairman and CEO Michael Dell. This vote will be included in the AFL-CIO's 2011 Key Votes Survey.

  • June 26, 2010 - The AFL-CIO released the 2010 Key Votes Scorecard for completion by investment managers for the 2010 AFL-CIO Key Votes Survey.

  • May 26, 2010 -In a comment letter to the PCAOB, the AFL-CIO supported new requirements to improve communciations between independent auditors and board audit committees.
  • April 21, 2010 - In testimony before a Congressional hearing titled "Corporate Governance and Shareholder Empowerment," AFL-CIO Office of Investment Deputy Director Brandon Rees explained why corporate governance reform is needed to respond to the financial crisis.

  • April 13, 2010 - The AFL-CIO's updated 2010 Executive PayWatch catalogs CEO pay and  exposes Wall Street’s efforts against meaningful financial reform.

  • March 22, 2010 - The AFL-CIO released the 2009 AFL-CIO Key Votes Survey and the AFL-CIO's list of 2010 key votes for inclusion in the 2010 AFL-CIO Key Votes Survey.
