National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans (NCCMP)

The NCCMP works specifically with multiemployer plans, developing research, support and training. For more than 30 years, NCCMP has been representing the interests of multiemployer plan participants in the halls of Congress, in regulatory arenas, and in the courts.

 

National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA)

NASRA is a non-profit association whose members are the directors of the nations state, territorial and largest statewide public retirement systems. NASRA members oversee retirement systems that hold more than $2 trillion in assets and that provide pension and other benefits to more than two-thirds of all state and local government employees.

 

National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS)

NCPERS is the largest national, nonprofit public pension advocate, and for more than 65 years has been the principal trade association working to protect the pensions of public employees. The membership of NCPERS includes more than 500 public pension funds representing nearly $3 trillion in assets.

 

National Institute on Retirement Security (NIRS)
NIRS is a not-for-profit organization established to contribute to informed policymaking by fostering a deep understanding of the value of retirement security to employees, employers, and the economy through national research and education programs. NIRS seeks to encourage the development of public policies that enhance retirement security in America.

 

National Labor College (NLC)

The NLC is the nation's only accredited higher education institution devoted exclusively to educating union members, leaders and staffers. The NLC offers trustee education courses and a free online investor education program.

 

National Public Pension Coalition (NPPC) 

Since 2007, the Coalition - representing millions of teachers, nurses, police, firefighters and other public sector employees - has worked to protect the financial security of working families who rely on public pensions.

Americans For Financial Reform (AFR)
AFR is  a coalition of over 100 organizations representing consumers, workers and investors.  AFR is working to fix our financial sector and make sure the financial system works for everyone.

 

Council of Institutional Investors (CII)

CII is an organization of public, Taft-Hartley and corporate pension funds that seeks to address investment issues affecting the size or security of plan assets. Its objectives are to encourage its members, as major shareholders, to take an active role in protecting plan assets and to help members increase return on their investments as part of their fiduciary obligations.

 

Ceres

Ceres is a national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges such as global climate change.

 

Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR)

ICCR is a leader of the corporate social responsibility movement. Each year religious institutional investors who are members of ICCR sponsor more than 100 shareholder resolutions on social and environmental issues. This site includes sample language for such shareholder resolutions.

 

The Social Investment Forum (SIF)

SIF serves as a clearinghouse of information and analysis to the socially responsible investing community on shareholder advocacy and seeks to link institutional investors and financial advisers with faith-based, social justice, labor and environmental organizations to encourage greater corporate responsibility.

 

 

International

AFL-CIO Country Watch List

The AFL-CIO maintains a list of countries, which fall into one of two categories: 1) countries with labor legislation which does not recognize fundamental worker rights, and 2) countries with labor legislation which recognizes fundamental worker rights but lack protection or enforcement of those rights.

 

 

International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN)

ICGN is a non-profit association that promotes good corporate governance by providing an investor-led network for the exchange of views and information about corporate governance issues internationally, examining corporate governance principles and practices and developing and encouraging adherence to corporate governance standards and guidelines.

 

Committee on Workers’ Capital (CWC)

The CWC brings together representatives of the international labor movement to share information and develop strategies for joint action in the field of workers' capital, including such areas as pension trustee education, corporate and financial market governance, shareholder activism and economically targeted investment.

 

Shareholder Association for Research and Education (SHARE)

SHARE is a Canadian not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving institutional investment practices that protect the long-term interests of pension plan members, beneficiaries and society in general.

 

United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN-PRI)

UN-PRI is a network of international investors working together to put principles for responsible investment into practice.
